It will treat more than 650 patients annually and provide about 100 new jobs for the area.<\/p>\n<p>As a medical rehabilitation hospital, ClearSky Rockwall County will differ from other rehabilitative programs because of its highly trained team, specialized equipment, state-of-the-art facility, and integrative approach to patient care. The hospital will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Be licensed and accredited<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Use an interdisciplinary team approach to care<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Have a physician with specialized training in rehabilitation<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Provide rehabilitative nursing 24\/7<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Offer patients physical, occupational, and\/or speech therapy for a minimum of 15 hours a week<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A national study shows patients treated at medical rehabilitation hospitals return home sooner, remain home longer, have fewer hospital readmissions and ER visits, and live longer versus those treated at nursing homes or skilled nursing facilities.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cOur intent is to enhance the quality of life for residents of the region by fulfilling an unmet healthcare need,\u201d says Darby Brockette, CEO of ClearSky Health. \u201cThe new hospital will strengthen current healthcare services by providing a continuum of care in a patient\u2019s healing process. Our goal is to help maximize patients\u2019 recoveries so they can regain as much independence as possible and return to the activities that they enjoy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Brockette says once the new hospital opens, patients will be able to remain near their homes while they continue to heal. \u201cBy not having to travel out of town for rehabilitation services, patients and their families will experience less logistical concerns, financial burdens, and emotional stress,\u201d he says. \u201cWe include family members and caregivers in the recovery process with the patient\u2019s permission. Their input and participation are important\u2014from helping the patient set care plan goals to being educated on how to provide continued support after discharge. Having families nearby and accessible to patients and hospital staff is extremely beneficial.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patients who are treated at ClearSky Rockwall County will interact and set individual goals with an interdisciplinary healthcare team that includes a physician; rehabilitation nurses; physical, occupational, and speech therapists; case managers; respiratory therapists; dietitians; and other healthcare professionals. The new, state-of-the-art, 45,000-square-foot building will feature all private rooms, a rehabilitative gym with specialized equipment and one-on-one therapy, a dining room with a dedicated chef and food service staff, an activity of daily living space to allow patients to receive therapy in rooms that emulate home conditions, and an outside therapeutic courtyard that provides various walking terrains.<\/p>\n<p>Brockette says patients will be provided the highest standards of rehabilitative care, citing the hospital\u2019s comprehensive stroke rehabilitation program as an example. The program will include review of 228 evidence-based recommendations from the American Stroke Association. Staff who will be specifically educated in stroke rehabilitation techniques and interventions will ensure that a treatment plan is created to fit the individual needs of each patient.<\/p>\n<p>Another unique aspect of care will include staff involvement in a patient\u2019s treatment after discharge from the hospital. Hospital professionals will continue to work with patients to ensure that they receive needed resources to reach the highest levels of independence and success during their recoveries.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cOur staff will go above and beyond normal service expectations to provide patients with optimal results,\u201d Brockette says. \u201cWe\u2019re pleased to have worked with local community and healthcare leadership to bring this level of care to the community.
