ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital of Harker Heights Ranked in Top 10% Nationwide

ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital of Harker Heights has been recognized among the Top 10% of 886 inpatient rehabilitation facilities in the United States, earning this distinction for its delivery of quality patient care that is effective, efficient, timely, and patient-centered.

The 30-bed medical rehabilitation hospital provides specialized rehabilitative care to patients recovering from disabling injuries or illnesses such as strokes, brain injuries, hip fractures, spinal injuries, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, or other medically-complex conditions.

ClearSky Harker Heights earned its ranking from Netsmart Technologies, Inc., the administrator and steward of the nation’s largest database for rehabilitation outcomes. The ranking was determined by Netsmart’s program evaluation model (PEM), a case-mix and severity-adjusted tool that generates a composite performance score and percentile ranking from data covering more than 80 percent of inpatient rehabilitation facilities across the nation. The rankings reflect discharges between October 2023 and September 2024.

“This recognition highlights our team’s unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional care to the communities we serve,” says Byron Landor, CEO of ClearSky Harker Heights. “Our dedicated staff consistently goes above and beyond to provide specialized rehabilitative care, helping our patients achieve maximum recovery and return to their homes and daily lives with enhanced independence and quality of life.”

Landor also emphasizes the broader impact of this achievement: “A national study by the ARA Research Institute confirms that inpatient rehabilitation facilities deliver superior long-term outcomes compared to other rehabilitation programs. Being ranked among the top in this category reaffirms the exceptional quality of care we provide. We’re honored to elevate industry standards and play a key role in advancing rehabilitative care nationwide.”

This marks the 17th year that rankings have been issued to inpatient rehabilitation facilities. The original PEM Report Card, developed by Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR), was created in response to a 2006 recommendation to Congress by the Institute of Medicine that every Medicare provider be reimbursed on a pay-for-performance basis. Netsmart’s PEM Version 2 Report Card builds on this foundation, incorporating quality measures to create comprehensive performance scores, with facilities ranked according to their composite results.
