ClearSky Health Breaks Ground for Its First Medical Rehabilitation Hospital in Florida

ClearSky Health today broke ground for a new 30-bed medical rehabilitation hospital in Lecanto, Fla., which will be located at 3967 West Norvell Bryant Highway.

ClearSky Health is a premier rehabilitative healthcare provider that currently owns and operates hospitals in Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico, with plans to open new facilities in Arizona, Kansas, Ohio, Wisconsin, and additional Texas locations. ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital of Lecanto will be the organization’s first hospital located in Florida.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, ClearSky Health CEO Darby Brockette said the hospital will focus on patient care and healing. “We often call ourselves a faith-based organization,” he said. “We believe in all the miracles that happen at a hospital, particularly at a rehabilitation hospital where a patient can be admitted on a stretcher and walk out at the end of their treatment after 12-14 days.”

Brockette credits the hospital therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals with the quality patient outcomes. He said about 80 percent or more of patients at ClearSky Health facilities are released home after their hospital stays. ”Or in the case of Lecanto, perhaps they’ll be released back to the golf course,” Brockette joked.

Brockette’s comments were followed by Ron Kitchen, Chairman, Citrus County Board of County Commissioners. “This is truly an exciting time,” Kitchen said. “It’s the first time ClearSky Health is building in Florida, and they chose Citrus County. As we keep improving the quality of life for our residents, this is a win/win for everyone.”

Josh Wooten, President of the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce, agreed. “This project checks all the boxes,” Wooten says. “ClearSky Health will employ high-wage employees, pay taxes to the area, and provide a needed services to our citizens. We’re lucky to be the benefactors of that.”

The new hospital will provide specialized rehabilitative services to patients living with disabling injuries or illnesses such as strokes, brain injuries, hip fractures, spinal injuries, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, or other medically-complex conditions such as COVID-19. It will treat about 650 patients annually.
