ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital of Lancaster recently appointed Rachel Boerema as the new Director of Marketing and Business Development. The new 36-bed medical rehabilitation hospital specializes in providing comprehensive rehabilitative care and will treat patients with disabling injuries or illnesses caused by strokes, brain injuries, hip fractures, spinal injuries, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and other medically complex conditions. In her role, Boerema will oversee the admissions department and lead initiatives to educate patients, families, and referral sources about the hospital’s range of services.
An occupational therapist, Boerema brings more than 17 years of healthcare experience to ClearSky Lancaster. Most recently, she served as a clinical liaison at a not-for-profit hospital in California, where she collaborated with various stakeholders to enhance patient safety and streamline care processes. Her experience also includes consulting roles that focused on client-centered communications and operational improvements, underscoring her commitment to high-quality patient care. Additionally, Boerema has contributed as a speaker coordinator on the Santa Barbara Neuroscience Institute’s Saving the Brain Committee, advocating for patient-clinician collaboration, particularly in spinal cord injury care.
“I’m thrilled to join ClearSky Lancaster in serving our community through specialized, inpatient physical rehabilitation – a new service in the Lancaster medical community,” Boerema says. “I look forward to helping patients and families understand the various levels of care available to them to help them choose the best option for their recovery.”
Boerema holds a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where she focused on health policy and organizational management. She also earned a master of science in occupational therapy from Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Mich., where she served as president of the Student Occupational Therapy Association. Additionally, Boerema holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Baker College in Flint, Mich.
Boerema is actively involved in several professional organizations, including serving on the board of directors for the Aphasia Center of California. She is a certified clinical liaison through the Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR) and is passionate about helping patients and caregivers navigate medical care with confidence.
