Dr. Danielle B. Guffrey has been named Medical Director of ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital of Lancaster. The new 36-bed medical rehabilitation hospital is scheduled to open in early November. It will provide specialized rehabilitative care for patients with disabling injuries or illnesses, including strokes, brain injuries, hip fractures, spinal injuries, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and other medically complex conditions.
Board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, Guffrey most recently served as the medical director for an acute care rehabilitation unit in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. She also was medical director for a rehabilitation hospital in Dublin, Ohio, and served as a consulting physician for various hospitals throughout Ohio. Additionally, she taught as an assistant professor at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
In her role at ClearSky Lancaster, Guffrey will lead the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing patient services that include physical, occupational, and speech therapy; rehabilitative nursing; case management; respiratory therapy; dietary services; and other specialized care.
“I look forward to working with the hospital’s healthcare team to provide a higher level of specialized rehabilitative care to our patients,” Guffrey says. “Our goal is to maximize patients’ recoveries so they can regain function and quality of life and return quickly to the activities they enjoy.”
Guffrey earned a bachelor’s degree in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Arizona and a medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, Ariz. She completed an internship at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, and a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
