J. David Cross has been named Chief Executive Officer of ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital of Eau Claire.
The new 36-bed medical rehabilitation hospital is scheduled to open late 2026 in Eau Claire, Wisc. It will provide specialized rehabilitative care to patients with disabling injuries or illnesses, including strokes, brain injuries, hip fractures, spinal injuries, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and other medically-complex conditions.
Cross has more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience spanning long-term acute care, acute rehabilitation, case management, and hospital operations. Most recently, he served as market chief executive officer for long-term acute care hospitals in Aurora and Denver, Colo., returning as interim CEO and leading the teams through operational changes and transitions. Throughout his career, Cross has held executive leadership roles overseeing multiple long-term acute care hospitals and acute rehabilitation facilities, with responsibility for clinical and operational performance, financial performance, team development, and patient outcomes.

Cross earned a master’s degree in health and human services administration from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla., and a bachelor’s degree in management from Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City, Okla. He also earned an associate degree in nursing from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla. He is a registered nurse and a Certified Case Manager.
